EAL Literacy

EAL Literacy describes the development 
of basic language ability and literacy skills from Foundation L to CLB 4L and is informed by both the CLB and the Continuum of Literacy Skills in ESL for ALL. EAL literacy learners are developing both language and literacy skills simultaneously. They are a diverse group of learners and typically have between 0 to 9 years of formal education before coming to Canada. They work towards the same competencies as non-literacy learners but with increased support, literacy-appropriate learning approaches and explicit instruction in literacy.

14 different themes which focus on basic communication in community, educational and workplace settings.
